Acapulco Gold, Cinderella 99. Quebec Gold, White Widow, Purple Haze, Panama Red, G-13, Kush, chocolate Thai, BC bud, Northern Lights are all strains of cannabis and those are just a few. Each one of them has its own reputation both famous and even infamous, such as G-13, a strain of cannabis that some say is only a legend, so potent are its properties supposed to be.

It’s amazing that so much attention has been focused on this plant, whose cultivation, use and effects are legendary, and it looks like there are no boundaries for this amazing plant. Advanced growing techniques of growers and breeders of weed have perfected the art of cultivating this famous cannabis plant  so that there are so many different strains of it that it is impossible to keep track of them all, except for those completely devoted to it.

For instance, in the 60’s, it was discovered that the psychoactive chemical in cannabis was tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, and it has been isolated for many different purposes, both medicinal and personal. It was discovered too, that the seedless cannabis plant yielded amazing results, Thai Sticks and Sinsemilla being the most widely known for there potent effects. Plants are being cloned, grown in hydroponic environments, and so on, so that now, plants with fewer cannabis seeds and higher potency are now the norm as opposed to 20 years ago.

There are, of course, many forms of cannabis in use today, and the following is a list of some of them and their effects. Marijuana, or ganja is the flowering tops of the plant and the psychoactive effects are from Trichomes, Female flowering buds, new shoots, stems of leaves, roots and seeds, and male flowering plants. Hashish or pressed Kief or charas is a concentrated resin extracted from the Trichomes by rubbing or sifting, or by using ice. Then there is hash oil, made by using ethanol to extract the oil from the cannabis plant and the evaporating the ethanol. Then, there is the resin. Some resin can be extracted from a pipe when it builds up after repeated use. The resin still has psychoactive properties, but it is harsher than smoking the marijuana. It is usually smoked when the marijuana supply has run out.

The actual smoking of cannabis can be done in many ways, from using bongs and chillums to the more popular method of rolling it up like a cigarette (joint), or a cigar (blunt). Cannabis can also be consumed in other, less intrusive ways, for those who don’t smoke, it can be made into a tea, or even used in cooking, like its by-product hashish, and the internet offers a wide and diverse range.

The methods and the types of cannabis grown and cultivated are too many to list here in this short article, but, if the subject peaks you interest you can look it up on the internet and get right into it.
