You could fill an encyclopedia with the volume of material written about marijuana, pot, reefer, joints blunts, or whatever your creativity can come up with. However, in all the tonnage of knowledge written down, it becomes almost lost in the fine details, that where it came from makes a big difference.

As many know, cannabis has been used medicinally for over five thousand years, and has been grown all over the world, but originally it came from around India, and its seeds spread along the trade routes, by the caravans, originally. The reason that cannabis spread so easily and so well is that it is a very hearty plant, easily adaptable to most climates.

I won’t give you the encyclopedia, but I will give you approximately 500 words on some of the best pot places. The first one is what has come to be known as Acapulco Gold. It is known as that because of its quality. Its THC level is higher than most, and THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main psychoactive chemical in pot.

The high potency of Acapulco Gold has made its seeds a very sought after commodity. It was first started around the area that surrounded Acapulco, and as the many tourists that flock to that place every season sampled it, the word, like the plant spread, making it and its seeds at the top of the list.

The next on the short list of marijuana is Jamaica. Marijuana has been grown there for over a century, and its highly prized weed is called ganja, made popular by the well known Rastafarians, and celebrity users native to Jamaica. Although ganja is illegal in Jamaica, it is just a mere technicality, being part of the country’s rich heritage, like Rastafarianism that holds ganja sacred above all.

The next pot port is somewhere you may not associate with the almost commercial status of growing that other countries have. It’s America – California to be precise. The area is referred to as The Emerald Triangle and has been burgeoning for decades, ever since people just started growing it there for their own personal consumption, and the friends or family would bring some seeds, plant them, and son, and so on, until the Emerald triangle is now one of the prime places for growing, and, even though it is still illegal, it is much bigger than the cottage industry it once was.

In this article, I only included the areas that were at the top of the list. Of course, there are many different places all over the world that are renowned for their cannabis or hash, like say, Blond Lebanese, but, as with everything, there is a pot gourmet culture that has its own kind of elite cannabis, some going so far as using only the word cannabis, never grass, weed or pot.

Cannabis has been around for a long time, and with its devotees, it looks like it will around for a long time to come.
