The Good Hemp Seeds against the Bad Cannabis?

2009.05.03

Well one thing that many people seem to agree on is that is plenty of nutrition in the seeds of the cannabis which are officially known as hemp seeds. Mind you if you were to tell an individual that is anti cannabis that there were hemp seeds in their salad, you most likely would see them put the fork down.

So just how much nutrition do they have and what can they do for the body? To begin with, they contain many of the nutrients that the body wants and needs along with several essential vitamins. Then let’s not forget the good old protein, which these little gems are full of. Pro hemp users state that adding these to your foods will increase your energy levels but at the same time help to reduce your waistline.

Just to put everyone’s mind at rest, no you are not eating weed, grass or pot if you consume the cannabis seed aka the hemp seeds. It’s the leaves of the marijuana plant that packs the punch that contributes to the high that so many enjoy. Where as the hemp seeds have no psychoactive capabilities at all. When we talked about protein we are talking about significant amounts actually more than what you would find in eggs or dairy products and perhaps some meats. Some of these products have been attributed to cholesterol problems so I wonder where the hemp seeds would come in on that premise.

If it’s the essential amino acids as well as the essential fatty acids that you are wondering about then you will be glad to know the hemp seeds have all that the body needs. In fact, just to supply this nutritional need you need to consume multiple types of other food, or just simply toss some hemp seeds into your salad.

You are probably wondering with so much talk about how bad pot is for you why there has been more information about the benefits of the hemp seeds raised. That’s because everyone is so wrapped up in what they refer to as the potheads or hash junkies they don’t look beyond the use of marijuana as having anything good about it.

It would be interesting to observe if one were to set up a knowledge table about cannabis what would happen. Let’s say you put some hash pipes, bongs, bubble bags and some roach clips on one section. The right next to it you put a bowl of hemp seeds with a big display of all the good things they can do for you. Which do you think would draw the most attention from the non-cannabis users? I would put my bet on all the paraphernalia rather than the seeds. It’s common that people want to see what they perceive as the bad about the weed as opposed to it having any good about it all.
