The Risks of Making Hash Oil

Not only is it an offence to use hash oil or cannabis in any form it is illegal to make it. In fact, one could very easily be caught for trafficking if one becomes exposed in making it. Aside from the risk of getting caught making it are the dangers that come with the actual manufacturing it. There have been many accidents that have occurred as a result of a ill-advised individual attempting to make their own hash oil.

The first part of what they apparently do seems safe enough. They will grind the pot leaves into a fine powder. Then here is where the danger begins. Alcohol has to be added to the leaves that were ground up. Some have been known to use other solvents besides alcohol but for the most part, they all contain large amounts of alcohol. The problem is alcohol can be hight combustible and many hash makers will use heat at some point of the process and this is dangerous.

Individuals who are making this will leave the mixture of powder and alcohol for more than 24 hours. They believe that the longer they leave it the more THC it will produce. They will then find a way to filter it so there is no plant residue left in it. Almost like straining the pulp off orange juice.

They now face the problem of getting rid of the solvent or alcohol they added and this is where the most danger lies. They will foolishly heat it and many have been known to do this over a gas burner or stove. As we said, alcohol can ignite easily and the burns that could be created can be devastating.

Other individuals who know the dangers well will be patient enough to just let the solvents evaporate on their own. They will continue to scrutinize it until a substance forms that looks a lot like tar. It will become so thick that something will have to be used to scrape it up with.

It’s these type of foolish accidents that take place from actions like these that further impression the negativity in people’s minds about cannabis. What many consider as just a harmless joint once in awhile now takes on a much more sinister character. All of a sudden, that act of producing some personal hash oil as grown into a hash oil cultivation and trafficking operation gone wrong.

This is not something for the novice to be attempting or in that fact for anyone. Not only are the dangers involved but also some naive individuals will figure they can start cultivating for their friends. Then it becomes their friends, friends and before you know they are now in fact trafficking without even giving, the consequences of getting caught a thought. The repercussions from these events are going to be far more devastating and serious then being caught with a joint for ones personal enjoyment.

Whenever you determine to use cannabis for personal use ensure that you keep to that purpose only and don’t get into the habit of abusing it.
