What Does Customs Say About Your Drug Paraphernalia?
2009.05.03
Ok who decides what you can and cannot buy and get it shipped to you by mail? Well the kingpins of making that decision starts with the government, for the most part dealing with things that are coming in outside of the Country. Every country is different of course, and often the rules of what you can ship and what you can receive are entirely different.
These are set by regulations and no once can really fault the government officials for having concerns in these areas. Just imagine if there were hard rules about what kinds of things can be sent into the Country what you might end up with. Perhaps a poisonous spider that came in off a plant or a rare snake that somebody left hibernating in your apartment before you moved in.
Just how closely are these rules followed? Its all a matter of opinion, some say its up to the shipper to know whats allowed while others say its up to the receiver.
When it comes to drugs, most countries will not allow it to be shipped or received. This includes your cannabis, pot, weed, grass or any of the other referred to names of cannabis. Best be sure if you are shipping legitimate grass seed that your shipping instructions make note of this. Customs officials don’t look lightly at a plain bag coming through marked as grass.
When it comes to paraphernalia such as hash pipes, bubble bags, hash bangs, a bong this is going to be somewhat interesting to determine yet to can ship, or no you can’t. To begin with, you will need to determine if it is illegal for you to ship it from your country according to the laws. Then you will also need to ascertain whether it’s legal for the country you are sending it to. Then above all, of that you need to figure out what is classed as paraphernalia for both countries. When it comes to the United States, you cannot assume that it is the same for every state. Many of them have instituted their own laws regarding this so they differ from state to state.
If you are of the mind that it won’t matter whose going to find out then obviously you are not business minded. If you are, an individual who is simply sending something to a friend be aware that your parcel has to go through customs. Here is where you are going to be caught.
It really isn’t worth a silly mistake of sending the wrong thing just because you weren’t aware of the law. It must be remembered that in some countries “ignorance of the law is no excuse”. So before you send anything by mail or try to get through customs with make sure you know the law. You don’t want to end up with some customs officials at your door, or being detained at a border.
