 Anyone who has had any type of addiction can attest that the cravings are their greatest challenge when trying to kick a bad habit. Be it smoking cigarettes or marijuana, it’s the cravings that keep us coming back. It is possible to get to a point that you don’t need feel the need to smoke pot on a regular basis and a few tips and advice on how to identify your cravings may help you achieve that goal.

First, what is a craving?

There has been many a debate as to whether prolonged cannabis use can cause any type of physical dependency craving, which is when your body itself is actually addicted to some drug or substance and can cause physical symptoms and sometimes even serious ones. If you smoke cigarettes and decide to quit you might experience withdrawal from a lack of nicotine intake and feel symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, migraine headaches and more. These are signs of a physical dependency craving that weed users don’t share when trying to quit.

Many people who have tried to quit smoking weed will tell there are definitely some physical side effects when trying to give it up because the main psychoactive ingredient is called (TetraHydroCannabinol ) or THC and can affect your bodies chemistry, but isn’t necessarily a physical dependency. Its not uncommon to suffer from insomnia, mild nausea, a sore throat and even vivid dreams.

Because THC is stored in your body’s fatty cells and is released later on, it can take an extended period of time to expunge it from your system. Drink lots of water and exercise regularly as this is a form of detoxification and can this can aid in getting the THC flushed out of your body faster thus reducing the physical problems you may encounter.

One of the biggest cravings when quitting grass is definitely of a psychological nature and similar to many other addictions such as alcoholism, gambling and even sex this type of craving can be as strong or even stronger than a physical dependency. Often people have thought  that they are hooked on the drug and find it then harder to quit smoking it on a regular basis.   





Many people have both good and bad habits and all bad ones are not necessarily harmful to your body. Its when a habit turns into an addiction and you believe you cant do without that something be it drug or an act that you can run into serious consequences. These are what cravings are all about and should be nothing to cause you embarrassment. Lots of individuals have suffered form one type of addiction or another and there is help out there for you if you want it.  


A craving can play mind tricks on you and your body and though you may think you need to smoke and maybe feel scared not too, remember its mainly all in your head and if  you can get past these thoughts, you are well on your way to quitting marijuana for good.
